Beaufort Mine was a deep lead mining site during the late 19th-20th century.
BEAUFORT MINE - Archaeological Significance
The site is of low archaeological significance (brick features have been removed) reducing the overall integrity of surface and potential subsurface deposist. There is some potential for subsurface archaeological deposits however there are better examples of more intact mine sites in the surrounding area.
BEAUFORT MINE - Historical Significance
The 19th century site is of local historical significance to the Beaufort township; particularly when interpreted in relation to the surrounding landscape, as an example of deep lead gold mining along Yam Holes Creek which gave rise to the economic development of the Beaufort township.

BEAUFORT MINE - Heritage Inventory Description
Beaufort Mine consists of a mullock heap and adjacent brick fragments in a grazing paddock on the southern side of Racecourse Road. The site has been partially destroyed by machine and is in poor condition.
