MARIBYRNONG ROAD BRIDGE - Physical Description 1
As noted in the History, the bridge carrying Maribyrnong Road over what is now the suburban line to Craigieburn (and onward to Wodonga) was constructed in 1889 and altered in 1992. The surviving original fabric includes the bluestone abutments either side of the railway line, nowconcealed beneath the road deck.Alterations made the structure in 1992 have resulted in an obtrusive reinforce concrete road decking and the loss of raised abutments. Nine evenly spaced renders columns support steel lattice balustrading to both sides of the road.
