Statement of Significance
Aboriginal Culture:
Bundoora Park contains more than 100 superb examples of River Red Gums (Eucalyptus camaldulensis). Many are huge and must be well over 300 years old. This tree is relatively small by comparison and carries an eliptical scar about 1 metre from the ground. The tree is encirled by a 2.5m high fence. The scar has been verified by the National Museum as being created by Aboriginals removing the bark approximately 100 years ago.
The tree is located in Bundoora Park, 300 metres from the Plenty Road entrance.
