STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
3 Balliang Street has architectural significance at a local level. It is representative and reasonalby intact example of a timber Edwardian residence, a common Geelong housing type early this century. It retains the characteristic form and typical features of the style.
3 Balliang Street is a timber Edwardian residence that is reasonably intact. The asymmetrical facade features a prominent gable, a central entrance, a large corrugated iron hipped roof, and a hipped verandah. The gable infill has half timbered details and simple barge boards, and below, a pair of double hung sash windows with decorative timber brackets supporting a simple hood. The same windows are found on the facade beneath the verandah. The door is not original, however the sidelight and highlight still exist. A brick corbelled chimney protrudes from the roof. The front fence and brick verandah piers are not appropriate to the style of residence.
