Memorial Window Description & History
Stained Glass Window at Williamstown St. Nicholas' Mariner's Chapel Anglican Chapel - Memorial Window Description & History
A window in memory of the merchant seamen who died during the Second World War was unveiled by Bishop McKie on 14 December 1947. It was presented by the Williamstown Lightkeepers' Association and showed a 'typical quartermaster with his hand on the wheel, with the figure of Christ at the back'. It is possible that this was the 36-inch diameter circular window, Christ's Command, ordered by Mrs. EM Musther from Brooks, Robinson & Co. in November 1947, although this would certainly would have been a 'rush job' to have it installed in time for the unveiling the following month.
