Memorial Window Description & History
Stained Glass Window at Mornington St. Peter's Anglican Church - Memorial Window Description & History
It was Archdeacon Aicken who suggested that the collection at each annual Choral Evensong Service should be put aside for a memorial to the soldiers of the parish who had fought and died in the First World War. The choir of All Saints' St. Kilda sang on each of these occasions in 1921 and 1923 and on 27 January 1924 the St. George window was dedicated by the vicar of All Saints', the Reverend J Jones at a full choral service. Brooks, Robinson & Co. adapted the cartoon from previous commissions. Four of the young men on the list of fallen at St. Peter's were casualities in the Gallipoli campaign - George Harrison, Leslie Coxhell and the two Stone brothers, Roy and Clive.
