SIR CHARLES HOTHAM HOTEL SITE - History
Originally called the Cavendish was opened in 1854 by Charles Oakley. The hotel was renamed several times since - Sir Charles Hotham, the Grigsby, and is now known as the Hotham Hotel. The ratebooks note that by 1882 the hotel was made up of a bar, 14 rooms and a stable. The large 2 storey brick corner hotel with small rear area containing outbuildings was renovated in 1927/36.Heritage Inventory Description

The site currently comprises the pub on the corner of Cavendish and Brougham Streets.
