A. TALBOT CORDIAL MANUFACTURER SITE - History
The cordial manufactory was established and owned byHenry Last in 1851. TheVillamanta Ward Rate Book (1852) liststhe building as atworoomed dwelling and shop.Last ownedthe cordial factoryuntil his death in 1853.That same year Pattison andTalbot purchased the business and ran it until the late 19th century. Theshop was expanded to a five roomed weatherboard building in 1853.
In 1891, the Hopetoun Chambers was built on the site for prominent local figure G.F.Belcher,designed by Geelong architects Watts and Durran in Late Victorian Classical style.
