Alexander Miller Memorial Homes - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
The architect for these and many of the other homes were Buchan and laird and Buchan. The semi-detached dwellings have been placed to form a semi-circle with the front elevation facing a landscaped garden. Each dwelling is single storey and built of red brick. The gable roof is clad in terra cotta tiles from which a short, red brick chimney projects. A small porch and verandah is formed by the continuation of the roof and this is supported by simple timber columns and brackets. An important element of the front elevation is the paired double-hung windows. The landscaped garden, palm trees, fence and hedge appear to be contemporary with the buildings. Sympathetic utility additions have been made to each home.
