STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE HISTORIC PLACES DOCUMENT SHEET - GRC SHEET NO 245
The plaque commemorating the establishment of the Colony of Victoria in 1850 is located on the site where announced in Geelong.
The plaque also records an important event in Geelong in November, 1850, when news of Separation was marked by a foreshore pageant, procession and fireworks display, and a public banquet;
