Why is it significant?
The brick and timber cottage at 92 Church Street, Coleraine is of historical significance because it demonstrates the living conditions and lifestyle of the labouring or working class in Coleraine in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Of further historical interest is the use of handmade bricks in the earliest part of the building, representing early an early industry of making bricks form the local clay. The building is of architectural significance as a typical example of a vernacular cottage.

The dwelling at 92 Church Street Coleraine has recently undergone substantial restoration work, completed with sensitivity to the original fabric of the buildings.
DOLLY KAINE'S COTTAGE - Physical Description 1
The dwelling at 92 Church Street Coleraine consists of a brick cottage and a timber cottage placed at right angles to each other, with associated outbuildings. The brick cottage has a low corrugated iron hipped roof and a skillion clad in corrugated iron attached to the rear. The brickwork is cement rendered and a straight profile verandah returned at the ends is attached to the main house on the front facade. One chimney, cement rendered, remains in the main cottage. Another brick chimney is attached to the skillion of the main cottage. The timber cottage is of weatherboard with a corrugated iron roof and two brick chimneys. The picket fence and gate at the front of the property appear to be of an early date, and have been restored. The interiors have not been inspected.
