Statement of Significance
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade station complex at 258-260 Union Road, Moonee Ponds, was built in 1927. It is aesthetically important. This importance (Criterion E) is derived from the design of the station building in the comparatively unusual Neo Georgian style and, although understated, remains stylistically unusual in the Municipality.

ASCOT VALE METROPOLITAN FIRE BRIGADE STATION AND RESIDENCE - Physical Description 1
A Neo Georgian fire station, having a pedimented barge with brackets and coat of arms reading "Audax et Promptu" as its principle stylistic elements. The upper level windows are contributory and although the lower level fire garage doorways are original, the doors are recent. The balance of the development is residential in scale and form, the gable end facing south being shingled in the Bungalow style along with the massive though simplified brick piers to the porch.
