Statement of Significance
The house at no. 28 Park Street Moonee Ponds was built in 1923 for James Coulthard. It is aesthetically important. This importance (Criterion E) is derived from the manner in which the design of the house is expressive of the Arts and Crafts movement as it was applied to the Californian Bungalow form in Australia, no. 28 being highly representative and a substantial example of the type. Important elements include the roof form and gable ended treatments, the accommodation of an upper level as an attic floor and the attention to detail demonstrating the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement.
