CHESTNUT-LEAF OAKS (QUERCUS CASTANEIFOLIA) - Physical Description 1
Three mature Chestnut-leaved oaks (Quercus castaneifolia) in the paddocks at the rear of the Loch Catholic Church. The westernmost tree, closest to the church is situated within 1 Victoria Road. The tree immediately to the east is within 1 Victoria Road, but the canopy extends over 5 Victoria Road and 30 Rawlings Lane. The third, northernmost, tree appears to be within the boundary of 1 Victoria Road, but the canopy extends over 30 Rawlings Lane.
According to the National Trust citation (T11767, Classified 11 November 1993), the specimen closest to the Catholic Church is the largest and more wide-spreading in form. Another larger example is known at Moss Vale Park, Leongatha.
