What is significant?
The Edward Street Precinct, comprising houses at 1-5 and 2-4 Bell Street, 1-15 and 2-8 Charles Street, 67-121 and 38-74 Edward Street, 1-9 Essex Street, 27-35 Weston Street, and 1-7 and 4-6 Walton Street.
How is it significant?
The Edward Street Precinct is of local architectural significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it significant?
The Edward Street Precinct is of local architectural significance as a representative area of workers housing dating predominantly from the 1870s and 1890s. Contributory architectural elements include small single-storey timber and brick Victorian-era houses, with the notable exception of the two-storey timber houses in Walton Street, two red brick industrial buildings on the east side of Charles street and the two storey Edwardian period Sporting Club Hotel on the west.

Bell Street: 1 and 4.
Charles Street: 1-3.
Edward Street: 1-3/44 - 46, 67-69.
Weston Street: 31 and 33-35.
Walton Street: 1, 3-5.

The Edward Street precinct is a predominantly residential area, containing a number of small timber and brick Victorian houses reflecting the development of the area as workers' housing. Most of the housing is single-storey, with the notable exceptions of highly unusual two-storey timber houses in Walton Street, two red brick industrial buildings on the east side of Charles Street, and the Sporting Club Hotel on the west. Traditional street elements retained include bluestone kerb and guttering and asphalt footpaths in Charles, Essex, Weston and Walton Streets.Heritage Study and Grading
