The street trees in Champ Street are of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it Significant?
The street trees in Champ Street are of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moreland as mature specimens dating from the early history of the area. They contribute significantly to the amenity of the local streetscape. (AHC Criterion E.1)

Street Trees - Physical Description 1
The street is dominated by nine River Red Gums (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) on the east side, which may have an association with the early development of this area. The trees are fully mature, and probably date from the latter part of the nineteenth century. A number of Canary Island Date Palms (Phoenix canariensis) are located within the row, and contribute to the character of the street planting generally.
Potential Threats:
Removal of the trees due to limb drop. Failure to replace senescent trees with the same species, eroding the heritage character of the place.Street Trees - Physical Conditions
