HOUSE & CANARY ISLAND PALM - Physical Description 1
The house at 28 Crisp Avenue, Brunswick is an asymmetrical Edwardian block-fronted weatherboard villa. It has a hip and gable corrugated iron roof with terracotta ridge capping and there are two brick chimneys with rendered tops and terracotta pots. The separate verandah is supported on carved timber posts. Notable features include the box bay window with hood to the projecting front gable and the unusual carved timber bargeboard above, and the decoration to the eaves. The front garden is dominated by a fine specimen of a mature Canary Island Palm (Phoenix canariensis), which was likely planted soon after the construction of the house, and provides a related landscape setting. The woven wire fence to the front boundary is sympathetic, but not original. The house is in good condition and has a high degree of external integrity.
