Statement of Significance
A gothic revival two-storey bank built in 1889 for the E S & A Bank and designed by the architects Oakden and Terry. This building is one of a small number of banks executed in the gothic style for the E S & A Bank, the only bank to adopt this style, because of the preference of its General Manager, George Verdon. The outstanding result of this interest is the famous "gothic bank" at the corner of Collins and Queen Streets.
