Statement of Significance
A house of the 1850s, which retains its basic structure, together with extensions and timber stables (the latter having been shifted within the site) designed by Lloyd Tayler in the 1870s, together with an extensive though now overgrown garden: architecturally significant aspects include the substantially intact decoration of the billiard room and the ornamental cast iron-work of the verandahs, including palmettes placed over the eave, both attrubutable to Tayler's work. Bought by the merchant H J Langdon in 1870, Rosecraddock was still in the possession of his descendants 114 years later - a tenure of ownership unusual in Melbourne and its environs.
