Statement of Significance
The Essendon Croquet Club, built in 1913, is of local historical and social significance as an early surviving example of the building type in the Melbourne and Metropolitan area and is a reminder of a popular Australian sport that has been especially well patronised in Victoria. It is of significance as an example of a simple building type common to croquet and lawn bowls clubs. Alterations and additions during its history show the development of the club over a period of time.
