Statement of Significance
Ford House (c.1873-74) and Outbuildings (c.1850's) are of regional significance in being among the most important limestone buildings on the Mornington Peninsula. The buildings are historically important for their associations with the owner, James Sandle Ford, a limeburner, who was the earliest settler in Portsea and arguably the area's most significant pioneer who dominated the scene for some fifty years. The buildings' architectural significance lies in their limestone construction, 1850's date of the outbuilding makes it among the earliest structures in the area.
