Statement of Significance
Built in 1876 for the Yarra Yarra (Scottish Order of Freemasons) Lodge. Architects Adamson and McKean. Two-storey brick and stucco in conservative classical revival style (Roman Corinthian design). Parapet, coat-of-arms and ornate meeting room ceiling.The lodge has occupied other premises since 1876. Thebuilding was owned by Mortimer Franklin, publisher and journalist, in 1883 and 1884. In 1895 the Try Boys' Society took over the building. Later, the condition of the building deteriorated,but was being restored by the Melbourne Camera Club (1979).
