Statement of Significance
Blood's Cottage, on the site of one constructed by Robert Blood in 1854, is socially and historically important for its links with some of the earliest settlers in Box Hill, and probably the only remaining evidence of the early township. The cottage was totally rebuilt, probably some time between 1897 and 1903, incorporating many old materials, some thought to be from the original cottage.
Blood's Cottage is also important at a local level, operating as an icon for the immediate community by representing for them a tangible link with the early development of Box Hill and the area's pioneers.
