Statement of Significance
The Windsor Engine House, despite the loss of its original facade, is historically and architecturally significant at a regional level, as a survivor of Melbourne's famous cable tram system, the most extensive cable tram system in the world operated by a single authority. It is also significant as the last engine house built for the system.
