Statement of Significance
Origianlly built for Mr. Henry Hopwood ?1860's. Mr. Hopwood died at Apsley House in 1869. The house then became a boarding house before being purchased by the Brigidine order in 1886 for 1000 pounds. The Sisters of St. Brigid arrive in Echuca in 1886 from Tullow, Co. Carlow, Ireland. First Classified 2/7/64
