Statement of Significance
Contribution to the landscape of historic garden
Outstanding example of species
This is the finest example of the cultivar known in Victoria. (1994) The tree makes a strong visual statement at the end of the driveway and is part of an impressive stand of conifers including Abies nordmanniana, Cedrus atlantica f. glauca and Chamaecyparis lawsonia.
The tree is located beside Fishers Creek next to the green at the end of the driveway.
St Fillans was purchased by Sir James Munro (Premier of Victoria 1890-92) in the late 1880s and the planting is thought to be from this period.
