Contribution to landscape of historic garden
These trees are two of three Ulmus 'Viminalis' on the site which is rare in cultivation and unknown outside the Benalla Gardens. U.'Viminalis' is a hybrid between U.minor.ssp minor x U. minor var plotii and the species has a rounded crown, dull green foliage with a deeply cut leaf margin. These trees were pollarded 30 years ago.
The third tree is a poorer specimen (noted17/6/2008)
