Curious growth form
This Eucalyptus melliodora is known as the 'Camel Tree' due to unusual growth form. A section of the trunk has grown along the ground, for about 2.9m and producing growth of 1.2m with a circumference of approximately 3m.This forms an shape that resembles a camel.
E. melliodora (Yellow Box) is widely distributed on the eastern plains and tablelands from western Victoria, NSW to southern Queensland and is considered to be the best native tree for honey production.
The tree is located on road reserve north-west of Benalla.
