Heritage Inventory History of Site: Informants suggest that the site was used as an ore/quartz battery.
DALHOUSIE MINE AND BATTERY SITE - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: The complex on the river flat and on the hillside is probably a battery site. The mine extends into the stone of the hillside, presumably towards a quartz reef. A track leads away from the mine.

DALHOUSIE MINE AND BATTERY SITE - Heritage Inventory Description
Reinforced terraces and traces of brick/stone buildings are found on the river bank and on the hillside overlooking the river. This was probably the location of a stamp battery. The mine extends from the river horizontally into the hillside. The mine opening is approximately 2 x 2 metres.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Moderate to high regional archaeological and historical significance.

Heritage Inventory Site Features: - possible battery site consisting of a flat terrace on the hillside, reinforced with stone and brick. There is an accumulation of building materials under the pine trees, perhaps a chimney base. There are other flattened areas on the site, and a scatter of exotic trees and bulbs.- the mine is located on the east bank of the Coliban, disappearing into the hillside. The mine opening is approximately 2 x 2 metres, and extends back at least ten metres into the stone. There is no sign that the mine was reinforced.
