MAYFIELD FARM - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The homestead complex was built by Moses Thomas in 1850s-60s. Interesting design. The Petersen family succeeded Thomas as owners circa 1950. The bluestone was possibly quarried across the road on Karl Petersen's property.Heritage Inventory Description
MAYFIELD FARM - Heritage Inventory Description
Homestead and outbuildings. The homestead is in the form of a hollow square and built of cream/yellow handmade bricks which are apparently typical of the area. A bluestone structure, probably a butter factory, is located at the front of the homestead on Plenty Rd. It is built over a well for cooling purposes.
Heritage Inventory Significance: High.
