Statement of Significance
The Memorial Hall, 5985 Donald-Stawell Road, Callawadda, has significance as an important commemorative icon in the local area. Built in 1957 as a memorial to the soldiers who fought and died in the Second World War, the building appears to be in fair to good condition.
The Memorial Hall at Callawadda is of architectural interest as an example of postwar hall design. The architectural features of interest include the shallow pitched gable roof form, skillion verandah porch, horizontal timber weatherboard and strapped cement sheet wall cladding, timber framed windows and the titling that reads: "Callawadda Memorial Hall 1957."
The Memorial Hall at Callawadda is historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the development of Callawadda in the mid 20th century, and it possibly commemorates the fallen soldiers in the Second World War. Built in 1957, the hall has served the community throughout the 20th century. It is recognised and valued by the Callawadda community for cultural, commemorative and recreational reasons.
Overall, the Memorial Hall at Callawadda is of LOCAL significance.

The Memorial Hall, 5985 Donald-Stawell Road, Callawadda, has a rural setting, surrounded by a grassed area and several eucalypts and other plantings. There is a post and wire fence and tubular steel and cyclone wire fence forming the boundaries to the site.
The horizontal timber weatherboard and strapped cement sheet, postwar Memorial hall is characterised by a shallow pitched gable roof form, together with a skillion verandah porch that projects at the front. These roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron.
Other early features of the rudimentary hall design include the timber framed windows, timber framed double door opening at the front, and the metal titles in the gable end that read:
"Callawadda Memorial Hall 1957."
