Statement of Significance
The house at 78 Main Street, Great Western, is historically and architecturally significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level. It is associated with residential developments in Great Western in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and it demonstrates important design qualities. These qualities include the gable roof form that traverses the site, single storey height, unpainted red brick chimney with a multi-corbelled top, timber framed windows, horizontal weatherboard wall cladding and the lapped galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding (overpainted red).
