Statement of Significance
The house at 84 Main Street, Great Western, is historically and architecturally significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level. It is associated with residential developments in Great Western in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and demonstrates some important design qualities. These qualities include the gable roof form that traverses the site, together with the gable roof and skillion verandah that project towards the street frontage. Other important design qualities include the single storey height, asymmetrical composition, horizontal weatherboard wall cladding, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding (overpainted red), unpainted brick chimney with a multi-corbelled top and the window and door openings (but not the aluminium window frames).
