CAMBARVILLE SAWMILLING CO - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The Cambarville Sawmilling Company operated this mill between about 1939 and 1970 and at times supported a community of up to 60 people. In 1955 the company applied unsuccessfully for cutting rights in the O'Shannassay water catchment area. Source: CFL, Alexandra, 1989.
CAMBARVILLE SAWMILLING CO - Interpretation of Site
Site represents sawmilling and domestic activities in the area. The site has long been abandoned and no other activity appears to have taken place. The site does seem to be maintained with cut grass and neat tracks.
CAMBARVILLE SAWMILLING CO - Archaeological Significance
The site appears to present a relatively rare example of a small sawmillijng site combined with remnants of a small community it supported. The abandonment of the land suggests that any archaeological deposits would be intact.
CAMBARVILLE SAWMILLING CO - Historical Significance
Historically significant on a regional level as part of the sawmilling industry that supported the development of nearby towns.

CAMBARVILLE SAWMILLING CO - Heritage Inventory Description
Diesel engine which powered the mill and an old school building. Peg stumps and foundations also found in large open clearing. The site is within the Cumberland Scenic Reserve.
