Statement of Significance
Baldwin's Garage in Newall Street, Marnoo, has significance as a reasonably intact example of a rudimentary early twentieth century blacksmiths shop later converted for use as a motor garage building. Built in c.1910 the building appears to be in fair condition when viewed from the street.
Baldwin's Garage in Newall Street is architecturally significant at a Contributory level. It demonstrates original design qualities for a rudimentary early twentieth century industrial-type building. These qualities include the gable roof form, galvanised corrugated iron wall and roof cladding, front door and window openings, front vertical timber boarded sliding door, and the modest eaves and absence of gutters.
Baldwin's Garage in Newall Street are historically significant at aContributory level. The building has associations with the first blacksmith and wheelwright in the town, established by A.V. Wright. In particular, this building has associations with a Mr. Baldwin who from 1936 as part of his motor garage business.

Baldwin's Garage, Newall Street, MARNOO - Physical Description 1
Baldwin's Garage in Newall Street, Marnoo, is set on the front boundary of the residential and commercial street. The single storey, galvanised corrugated iron, interwar building is characterised by a gable roof form, together with an introduced high rectangular street elevation that is clad in galvanised metal deck sheeting.
An early feature of the design is the modest eaves and the absence of gutters. An early doorway with a vertical timber boarded sliding door is a feature of the front facade. Flanking the front doorway are two early square window openings that have subsequently been blocked up with white-painted metal deck sheeting. Another early feature of the design is the timber signage above the doorway that reads "Baldwins Garage".
