Statement of Significance
The Bills concrete trough and dog trough, adjacent the Memorial Gates in Park Street, Marnoo, are significant they forms part of the Annis and George Bills Estate, which was established to provide watering facilities for horses and dogs after George's death in 1927. The structures are also a legacy of the days of horse drawn vehicles, before the motor car was introduced. The Bills concrete trough and dog trough are historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. They are associated with Annis and George Bills from c.1927, who established a fund in the early 20th century to provide adequate watering facilities for horses. The troughs form a pair of over a thousand troughs throughout Australia, and the U.S.A. which are a legacy of the Bills Estate. The troughs are recognised by the local Marnoo community as demonstrating a distinctive custom that is no longer in use.
Overall, the Bills concrete troughs are of LOCAL significance.

Bills Trough, Crown Allotment 126F Park Lane, MARNOO - Physical Description 1
The Bills cement trough consist of two parts with one large and one small trough, and is located adjacent to the Memorial Gates in Park Street, Marnoo. There are incised rectangular panels on the front side of the structure, with an elaborate curved back. The trough is almost completely full of dirt, and is poor condition, with spalling concrete exposing the reinforcing at the front right edge.
Immediately adjacent to the trough is a small dog trough that is in disrepair, with only approximately half of the structure remaining
