Statement of Significance
The house, 18 Crowlands Road, Stawell, has significance as a moderately intact example of a rudimentary Victorian style. The original extent of the dwelling appears to be the front gabled section. The house appears to be in fair condition when viewed from the street.
The house, 18 Crowlands Road, Stawell, is historically and architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Stawell in the second half of the 19th century. The house also demonstrates original design qualities of a rudimentary Victorian style. These qualities include the gable roof form that traverses the site, single storey height, modest scale and horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the rendered brick chimneys, narrow eaves, shallow pitched and wide hipped verandah that projects towards the street frontage, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, and the central timber framed doorway with symmetrically flanking timber framed multi paned double hung windows.
Overall, the house, 18 Crowlands Road, Stawell, is of LOCAL significance.

House, 18 Crowlands Road, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The house, 18 Crowlands Road, Stawell, is set on a wide allotment in a landscaped setting. There is a sizeable front setback with open grassed areas and overgrown perimeter garden beds and trees. The front is bound by an introduced open horizontal paling fence with a steel gate and is approximately 1000 mm high.
The asymmetrical, single storey, modestly scaled, horizontal timber weatherboard, rudimentary Victorian styled house is characterised by a gable roof form that traverses the site, together with a shallow pitched and wide hipped verandah that projects towards the street frontage. At the rear is an addition which gable and skillion roof forms that project towards the side. These roof forms are clad in painted galvanised corrugated iron. Two early rendered brick chimneys adorn the roofline to one side. Narrow overhangs are features of the eaves.
Under the front verandah is an early central timber framed doorway with symmetrically flanking timber framed multi paned double hung windows.
The front verandah is supported by introduced columns and has introduced solid timber brackets.
