Statement of Significance
The War Memorial and Lone Pine Planting at the corner of the Sunraysia Highway and Teddington Reserve Road, Stuart Mill, have significance as local important commemorative icons. The War Memorial commemorates those soldiers who fought in the Great War (1914-1919) and appears to have been erected soon after the close of the War. The Lone Pine was planted in 1993, with the seed taken from the Lone Pine at Gallipoli.
The War Memorial and Lone Pine Planting at Stuart Mill are historically and aesthetically significant at a LOCAL level. The both monuments are associated with local soldiers who bravely volunteered in the Great War between 1914 and 1919. The War Memorial demonstrates important visual qualities that include the obelisk form, smoothly finished granite construction and inscriptions.
The War Memorial and Lone Pine Planting at Stuart Mill are socially significant at a LOCAL level. They are recognised and valued by the Stuart Mill community for cultural and commemorative reasons.

The War Memorial and Lone Pine Planting and Plaque have an open grassed setting with several exotic trees forming a side boundary to the small reserve at the corner of the Sunraysia Highway and Teddington Reserve Road, Stuart Mill.
The War Memorial comprises a smoothly finished granite obelisk set on a granite plinth with a concrete base. Rough hewn granite posts with steel chains, together with blue metal ground screenings, define the surrounds to the memorial. The memorial has the inscription that reads: "Commemoration of Our Brave Volunteers Who Fought in the Great War for God and Empire 1914-1919". The names of the soldiers are also inscribed.
Nearby the War Memorial is a Lone Pine planting and associated plaque.
