Heritage Inventory History of Site:
NEW ESTATE Co. No.1 shaft,
05.04.1895: yield of 30.5 ozs for 2 weeks.
19.04.1895: yield of 86 ozs for 2 weeks.
17.05.1895: yield of 27 oz for two weeks.
25.12.1897: this claim pioneered the field, closed in May; yield of 112 ozs since the start of the year; the mine produced a total of 2232 ozs; giving the party of 20 shareholders £2 5s per week, and allowed a dividend of £40 per share.
1893 to 1897: recorded production of 1600 ozs (or 49.767 kg).Heritage Inventory Description
NEW ESTATE CO - Heritage Inventory Description
The dam is on the north side of the large irregular shaped heap at the New Estate Co No.1 shaft. The heap is very irregular, approximately 50m by 50m and up to 4m high. Sections of quartz wash are visible in this heap.
