BRISTOL HILL PARK GOLDFIELD - History
Was part of Maryborough goldrush, in the Maryborough and Avoca Mining Division. Area mined for gold in 1850s and 1860s by individuals until companies started mining area in 1870 (Bristol Hill). Most of area not developed (still Crown Land) - recreation area.BRISTOL HILL PARK GOLDFIELD - Interpretation of Site
Appears likely that these diggings represent early shallow and alluvial diggings by individuals, most likely in the 1850s and 1860s, but may also date to later periods.

BRISTOL HILL PARK GOLDFIELD - Heritage Inventory Description
The diggings in the BHP goldfield probably relate mainly to individual mining enterprises rather than company enterprises. Artefacts are scattered throughout area, but no mining relics remain.
Gullies that have been worked, shallow diggings, mullock heaps and possible remnants of state battery. Pile of bricks and concrete features.
Physical Conditions: Area (presently parkland) with a number of worked gullies, shafts, a mullock heap and artefacts relating to area's use for goldmining during the 1850s-1900s.
