Longwood Boer War Memorial - Physical Description 1
Memorial to commemorate the boer war, 1903. Polished and rough chiselled, grey and black granite pillar, enclosed by single stone piers and metal chains. Includes gun.

Longwood Boer War Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
The Longwood Boer War Memorial, located on Avenel Road opposite Hurley Street, was erected in 1908. It comprises of a column of highly polished green granite from Belgium, on two-tier granite base - Harcourt and Graytown granite. A small cannon gun was later added in front of the column. The inscription specifically dedicated to local soldiers; Pte Louis Bond killed at Wilmansruston 12 June 1901 and Pte Frederick Jeffreys died at Pine Town, 1 May 1902." The memorial was then re-dedicated to those local men who did not return from the First World War.
