Bass War Memorial - Usage/Former Usage
The Bass War Memorial remains in use as a War Memorial to the fallen of the district who fought in theatres of war from 1914 to 1971.
Bass War Memorial - Physical Description 1
The Bass War Memorial is a simple granite obelisk on a high plinth with plaques commemorating the men from the local town who died during the First and Second World Wars. A further plaque was added to remember those who died in Malaya, Korea, Borneo and Vietnam. It is located on a grassed junction island in the road, and is visible from both the entrance and exit to the township of Bass via the bridge. A timber flagpole is adjacent to the memorial, which is surrounded by a narrow paved path. Early photographs show a light timber fence around the site, which has since been removed.
