Sandringham Drill Hall - Veterans Description for Public
The Sandringham Drill Hall was located on Picnic Point. The hall dates from the Second World War, when the prime concerns of construction were economy and speed. Accordingly, drill halls of this period returned to designs similar to the First World War but were built of weatherboards with corrugated asbestos cement roofs. The one exception is HMAS Londsdale which is of unique design in brick with tall west facing windows (the building is empty). The only remaining timber example is used as a scout hall in Red Cliffs near Mildura.
