Site has limited ability to provide information about gold mining era. Local cultural heritage significance.

HISTORY IS MINIMAL - MOST FOCUSSES ON BRISTOL HILL TO THE SOUTH WHICH WAS MINED FROM 1854 AND CALLED POOR MAN'S DIGGINGS UNTIL A RICH REEF WAS FOUND.BALACLAVA ROAD HISTORICAL LANDSCAPE - Interpretation of Site
Area was used for gold mining from 1850s to depression era 1930s. Gully and shallow excavations are numerous but a square shaft was identified. Most of the refuse (bottles etc) appears to post date 1920s, mainly dating from 1930s and 1940s.

A landscape with excavation shafts and rubble related to gold mining.
Worked gullies, shallow circular excavations, square shafts of unknown depth, mullock heaps and refuse (bottles and ceramics).
