The rectangular plan RSL building has a flagstone fence with centrally located iron gates. The brown brick facade of the building is a later, c.1970s addition to a sheet metal shed. The hipped corrugated iron roof can be seen above the front parapet. A flat roofed portico covers the centrally located double front doors, which is flanked by the words 'Lest We Forget'.
The building appears to have no architectural significance.Monbulk RSL - Physical Conditions

Veterans Description for Public
Monbulk RSL - Veterans Description for Public
The Monbulk RSL Hall at 48 Main Road, is dedicated to local soldiers who served in both World Wars. The memorial gates at the entrance are constructed from wrought iron and feature a 'Lest We Forget' banner. An early Sub-Branch of the RSL formed after the First World War, remaining in operation for a short time only. Some of the sub-branch members later banded together under the title "Monbulk Diggers" and in the 1920s organised the first "T.B. Ball" in aid of the T.B. Sailors and Soldiers' Association. Another sub-branch was opened in 1946, holding their first meeting in Muriel Peck Cottage, before the RSL hall opened on Main Road 30th May 1953.
In May 1951, the foundation stone for the new R.S.L. Club rooms was laid by Mrs Aeneas Gunn, a major patron of the club. Mrs Gunn returned in 1955 to dedicate the memorial entrance gates commemorating those who served in both wars. The gates were presented by the Kookaburra Club. There are also two silver birch trees planted in front of the new R.S.L. Hall, one to honour Mrs Gunn, and the other to the other to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The land on which the hall stands was owned by Mr and Mrs Frank Severino and was given in memory of their son, tragically killed in a traffic accident.
