Kalorama Peace Memorial - Physical Description 1
The Peace Memorial is located in Ellis Jeeves Reserve at the Five Ways, an important "landmark" location in the Dandenongs. The Ellis Jeeves Reserve is a small area of bushland. The memorial is a large block of granite (approx 1.65 m high) set on a rectangular plinth. A bronze plaque with a dove and olive branch at the top and wreath below records that it commemorates the "peace of 1919". Douglas Richardson is recorded on the memorial as its designer.
Next to the Peace Memorial is a small drinking fountain erected by Rotary Club of Lilydale in 1974.Kalorama Peace Memorial - Physical Conditions

The Kalorama Peace Memorial is located in Ellis Jeeves Reserve at the Five Ways, on the Mt. Dandenong Tourist Road. The memorial is a large block of granite, approximately 1.65 m high, set on a rectangular plinth. A bronze plaque with an image of a dove, olive branch and wreath records that it commemorates the "Peace of 1919." Douglas Richardson is recorded on the memorial as its designer. The plaque also lists the names of twenty-one men from the Mount Dandenong area who served in the First World War.
The idea for the monument was suggested in 1919 when the Mount Dandenong Reserves Committee was approached by the Peace Memorial Committee to approve a memorial design. Like other monuments erected at the time, the Kalorama memorial celebrated peace rather than having an emphasis on war.
Before the monument was erected in 1923, Mount Dandenong Reserves Committee member, Ellis Jeeves died and his colleagues resolved that the name of the reserve should be changed to honour his memory. Jeeves had given the land both for the reserve and the adjacent church. By 1926, the district of Mount Dandenong North had been renamed Kalorama, using the name of a property belonging to another member of the Jeeves family.Heritage Study and Grading
