CRANE'S SHOP - History
'Martha Crain, Widow' is listed directly south of the Commercial Inn in the 1866 Butler's Woods Point and Gippsland directory. Dr Wayne Caldow, through his own research, has identified Craine as a Milliner. The early history of the site is otherwise unclear, though this section of the special survey may have been settled in the 1840's.
CRANE'S SHOP - Interpretation of Site
The mound is in the approximate location of Crane's Milliner's shop. The mound may be an accumulation of debris and soil associated with the building.
