Site of moderate scientific significance as it is likely to contain several features potentially dateable artefacts from the earliest period of European settlement in the area. It is assessed as having local cultural heritage significance.

CORNELL HISTORIC SITE 1 - Interpretation of Site
Former house site. House likely dated to the mid-nineteenth century. Occupied until at least the 1940s. Possibly a weatherboard house with brick chimney (scatter of Northcote bricks noted). Fragments of glass and other domestic rubbish.

CORNELL HISTORIC SITE 1 - Heritage Inventory Description
Former house site. House removed/demolished. Windbreak, concrete flooring, depression, and scattered debris still evident. House is likely to date from the early occupation of the site by the Cornell family.
Concrete slab, windbreak, scattered bricks and domestic/architectural rubbish, depression/well, and fenceline and drainage channel.
Physical Conditions:
Fair. Disturbance from house demolition and grazing.
