Balcombe Memorial Gates - Veterans Description for Public
The Balcombe Memorial Gates, are located at the entrance toMace Oval. The gates were erected by the Australian Army in memory of the service of the United States Marine Corps (1st Division). The Marine Corps came to Balcombe Army Camp in 1942 to recuperate after the Battle of Guadalcanal.During the Second World War,the Balcombe Army Camp was located on the site of the Mace Oval.
