Great Western WWII Memorial Flagpole - Veterans Description for Public
The Great Western WWII Memorial Flagpole is situated to the other side of the Memorial Obelisk in the Great Western Memorial Park. It was was unveiled in 1956 by the Curran family in memory of Rex Curran, who died on the Kokoda trail on August 9th 1942, aged 22. The names of Peter Seppelt, John Walker and John Thomlinson were also added to the granite pedestal of the flagpole in an Australia Remembers ceremony c.1995.
